Motivated to make people’s lives easier and safer, Deborah delivers new directions in products, packaging, labeling, identity, and information systems through her multidisciplinary design studio. Prior to forming her firm, she designed a system for packaging prescription medicine as her MFA thesis project: the Target ClearRx system. Adler was also a senior designer for Milton Glaser, where she provided guidance to clients seeking new avenues in visual communications, signage programs, and brand identity.

Darryl is Kubik’s director of museums and special projects. He has been a senior account/project manager with Kubik for 13 years and in the industry since 1986. Recent projects completed under his direction include every museum in which Kubik has been commissioned, as well as large, multidisciplinary, international projects and corporate events. These projects include the Panama Biodiversity Museum, Verizon Studio CitiField New York, and the Newseum.

Jason and his multidisciplinary team create groundbreaking installations and interventions that occupy the space between the worlds of architecture, site-specific installation art, and interaction design. Wallpaper magazine named him one of 10 "world-changing designers" and he was listed in Design Week's "Hot 50" in 2009. Recent work includes dynamic installations for Toronto subway stations, London's Olympic Park, Tate Britain, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the World Wildlife Fund.  

Brian is the chief creative officer of COLLINS:, a design and innovation firm dedicated to inventing brand experiences and communications that shape companies and people for the better. Brian's clients have included Coca-Cola, CNN, Levi Strauss & Co., American Express, Motorola, Mattel, IBM, Amazon.com, MTV, Target, Hershey's, Microsoft, and The Alliance for Climate Protection. COLLINS: is a division of The Martin Agency, American Advertising Agency of the Year, 2010.

A registered landscape architect and urban design coordinator at TriMet, Elizabeth has over 13 years of diverse experience working in Portland, Oregon as a landscape and urban designer. At TriMet, she oversees the design and fabrication of custom transit amenities and the construction of light rail stations. She managed the fabrication and installation of the Portland Transit Mall's transit shelters, public art, furnishings, and environmental graphics. As coordinator for design at TriMet, Elizabeth has gained a unique level of expertise understanding the balance of form and materials with long-term durability and maintainability. She received a B.S. in Marketing from Ithaca College and a Master of Landscape Architecture from Cornell University.

As senior transportation engineer at Gresham, Smith and Partners in Nashville, Marshall has been involved in transportation planning and engineering for over 34 years. His professional experience includes 22 years of public service and 13 years of private sector practice. His responsibilities have included the management, planning, design, and operation of street and traffic systems in Colorado, Tennessee, Texas, and California.

Focusing on higher education, science and technology, and museum/cultural center projects, the Freelon Group delivers award-winning building design within a collaborative, innovative studio environment. Phil is leading the Freelon Adjaye Bond team in the design of the Smithsonian Institution's new National Museum of African American History and Culture, which will open on the National Mall in 2015. He is also an accomplished furniture designer and a design professor and lecturer.

Phil’s advanced academic training at Lynchburg College, Villanova University, and The Pennsylvania State University was in psychology, visual perception, and experimental design. Since 1989, he has been investigating the interaction between humans and their visual environment and exploring the effects of signage on human performance. He is currently a senior research associate at Penn State’s Larson Transportation Institute. Phil wrote the Federal Highway Administration’s guidelines for changeable message sign visibility, the FHWA’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices chapter on community wayfinding signs, and ADA-consistent guidelines for transit signage for the visually impaired for the U.S. Access Board. Phil was instrumental in the research and development of the Clearview typeface for highway signs and the National Park Service NPS Roadway font.

The founder of consulting and design firm LongSherpa and trading and trekking company LongSherpa Nepal, Kathy has worked in product development for both emerging and established companies, including six years with Nike. She focuses on business retention and developing products for changing markets; maximizing the economic value of commodity-based resources and value-added products; and developing international markets and relationships. She also does extensive qualitative research on new markets using social science research methodology. She is a frequent lecturer at business schools.

Jack Hurley is senior vice president of broadcasting for both the Freedom Forum and the Newseum. He also serves as a deputy director of the Newseum. Jack oversees the production, editorial, technical, and financial operations of multiple groups. Newseum productions have received dozens of awards from major film and video festivals and professional organizations, including the International Monitor Awards, the New York Film and Video Festival, Cine Golden Eagle, and the International Film and Video Festival.

Media designer, senior producer, and principal of Cortina Productions, Amy collaborates with museum clients and exhibit designers to transform complex history, social, cultural, and science content into emotionally engaging and educationally successful visitor experiences. In addition to her creative work, she established the production process and procedures that Cortina Production uses today to deliver quality media exhibits on time and on budget. Recent designer and producer credits include interactive and multimedia exhibits for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s State of Deception exhibit, South Carolina Upcountry Museum’s orientation film, and the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center’s interactive exhibits.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Keiichi spent two years as an architectural designer for Atelier Bow-Wow in Tokyo, creating video installations for design-conscious drinking parties. Although his background is in architecture, Keiichi's graduate research has led him to use film and motion graphics as a medium. His current work examines the spatial and social implications of emerging technologies, and his cautionary short film Augmented (hyper)Reality: Domestic Robocop encapsulates his interest in virtual environments, new media, and the mechanics of capitalism.

As president, founder, and CEO of Stir Food Group, Dan is responsible for the development and success of some of Washington, D.C.’s, most acclaimed restaurants, including Red Sage and the Penn Quarter’s landmark Zola. In March 2009, he debuted Potenza, a 10,000-sq.-ft. Italian trattoria just two blocks from the White House at 1430 H Street, NW. Potenza was recently named “Best New Restaurant” of the year in Washingtonian Magazine and also made the publication’s “100 Best List.”

Dan directs D&P's business development and marketing activities, working with clients, designers, and producers worldwide. He supervises the project managers, creative engineers, and technical systems experts responding to designers, project team members, and the fabrication trades, ensuring that construction details, creative direction, and overall project goals are achieved. He has extensive experience in the design and implementation of immersive and interactive multimedia exhibits and large-scale touring exhibitions. He is an advocate of the design/build process, and has led numerous LEED-certified museum projects.

As Commissioner of Public Buildings for the U.S. General Services Administration, Robert Peck is responsible for the nationwide asset management, design, construction, leasing, building management, and disposal for 354 million sq. ft. of government-owned and leased space, accommodating 1 million federal workers. He oversees an annual budget of more than $8 billion and a workforce of 6,300. He is currently leading a GSA initiative to integrate green building practices into the construction and renovation of government buildings.

Emily Pilloton is the founder and executive director of Project H Design, a nonprofit that supports, inspires, and delivers product design initiatives for Humanity, Habitats, Health, and Happiness. She was trained in architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, and product design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her book, Design Revolution: 100 Products that Empower People, is a compendium of and call-to-action for product design for social impact.

Steven Rosen’s lighting design career spans architecture, museum exhibition, and corporate communications design. As president of Available Light, he has led his firm through hundreds of creative, innovative, and sustainable special space projects from coast to coast and overseas. He has taught at New York University and Emerson College and has guest-lectured at many universities and conferences around the world. He has received the International Association of Lighting Designers’ top honor, the Radiance Award, and been named LDI’s Lighting Designer of the Year.

Markus Schneider has been bridging culture and technology for more than a decade, working as a consultant and curator for institutions, companies, and projects. He co-founded Lukas & Hoffmann Gallery in Berlin in 1992. He has collaborated on audio/video installations, media projects, and real-time generative processes for galleries, museums, festivals, and commercial projects, including audio-reactive visual environments for the Golden Globes and Universal Studios. He also worked for JazzMutant, producer of the world's first multi-touch controller interfaces. 

As Chief Architect for the U.S. General Services Administration, Les is the senior advisor to the Administrator of GSA and Commissioner of the Public Buildings Service regarding federal architecture and design policy and innovation. The agency currently has more than $12 billion in design and construction work in progress, executed by 11 GSA regional offices. In 2010, Les received the AIA’s Thomas Jefferson Award for Public Architecture, which recognizes excellence in architectural advocacy and achievement. Prior to his 22-year career with GSA, Les ran his own design firm in Albuquerque, NM.

Tucker is president and co-owner of Dimensional Innovations, a design and specialty fabrication firm in Kansas City. He was recently named one of 40 under-40 leaders in Kansas City, and his company was named one of the Top 10 Small Businesses in Kansas City. A member of the SEGD board of directors and its Kansas City chapter chair, Tucker has worked on a wide variety of design/build projects for cinemas, sports facilities, museums, zoos, and entertainment facilities all over the world.
